Renee nodded slowly. "Okay, that's the plan." She kept her arms wrapped around him, staying close to judus. The woman got clingy when she was upset and probably wouldnt let go for the rest of the night.

"Worked with me when my parents told me my pet mouse ran away." Judus said as he held her close to him. "Then when I was old enough, they told me the truth...that david ate him..."

She winced. "ooh... ouch." The woman sighed. she knew david was a sensitive suspect. "Well, at least kipper wasn't eaten." She tried to smile and nuzzled him easily.

"We can be happy to know that he's in a better place. With all the protein bars and mice he can eat." Judus said as he cuddled close to her and tried not to lose it.

Renee smiled sadly. "Yeah, and absolutely no Eds or XLs." She nuzzled him, chuckling. It was a good...however sad... thought that he would be happy now.

Renee and Judus had buried Kipper in the backyard and told the kids that he had...gone away for a while. She sighed as she went to take the trash out when a small ditry box caught her attention by the dumpster.

The woman looked at it questioningly. Sure, they had cardboard boxes left there all the time, but this one seemed odd. Careful, she opened it.

A tiny squeek came from the filthy box as Renee gave a jump. Carefully she opened it and saw what almost made her heart stop. It was a tiny marten pup.

"What in the galaxy?" Renee gently reched into the box and lifted up the pup. It was small and seemed malnourished. "No where did a curious little fellow like yourself come from?" she asked him, as if expecting the same half-telekintetic answer she had always gotten from Kipper.

The little marten gave a cough and whinned. It looked ready to pass out from starvation. It hungrly nibbled on her finger as if it would fill it's tiny tummy.

Renee quickly wrapped him up in her jacket and ran inside. "Judus, out of the way." She shoved her husband aside and grabbed one of the protien bars out of the cabinet. She broke off a little bit and held it out to him. "Here little baby." She scratched its belly gently.

"Renee, what in the world-" He began as he saw what she was holding. "Where did that come from?!" The pup tried to nibble on it but it was still too young to bite anything.

She snatched the glass of milk he had been fixing for ginger before breakfast and rummaged through the cabinets, fining an old bottle and puring the glass into it. She gently held it out to the baby marten. "I found him outside by the trash, in a box." Renee frowned to herself. "Did anyone come near the trash cans today? Do you think someone left him?"

"I hadn't seen anyone out there all morning Renee." Judus said as he stroked this little pup's head. It sniffed the bottle then began to drink from it, happily purring as it did.

Jill looked at Ed lying on the floor depress. "You think he knows that Kipper passed away?" She asked Myka and Buzz sadly.

Renee stroked the pup. "Well we need to know where he came from." She purred back to the pup, placing herself as a mother figure.

Myka got down and rubbed Ed's back easily. "Hey buddy. What's wrong?"

The young woman went to the garage with the young marten clutched up against her chest. she started to get into the car, judus following. "Oooh, honey can we please keep him?" she begged, not telling him where they were going.

Ed continued to stare out the window sadly. His best buddy was gone now. Neil hugged Ed's neck.

"Poor Eddy." He kissed the dog on the nose.

"Yes," Renee nodded slowly. She started the car. "We need to tell Jill about this. O know it really upset ed." She squeeled happily slightly before looking down at the marten. "You will never replace Kippy, but I can't let you stay out there and die." She informed it lovingly.

Ed looked up slightly. He licked Neil gently on the nose. 'it will be okay little buddy.' he gave another depressed whine. 'i just missed the little fella.'

"Poor Eddy." Neil hugged the dog's neck lovingly. Jill looked at the scene sadly. "I feel bad that Ed will probably out live all his animal pals." The hound had a surprisingly long live span then an average dog.

Soon Renee arived at Jills house. She kept the marten close and knocked on the door.

Renee smiled slowly at Jill. "Look at the little fellow I found in a box next to our trash can." It was so odd- She showed the sniffling little creature to Jill.

Myka looked up. "What is it?" He walked over. Ed followed warily.

"What the-" Jill asked as she looked it over. "You found it?" Martens were rare creatures where they lived. "How do you think it got there?"
