Father's Day Failure

It was a warm summer's day on Star Command. Justice was being served, baddies being sent away for crimes, paperwork being read by no one, all and all a same old day. Jillian Lightyear was finishing up a report for Dr. Cosmos when Mira walked in.

"Hey Jill can I ask you something?" Mira had a box in her hands. Jill looked up and nodded.

"Sure, what?" Mira opened the box to reveil it to be a beautiful male choker.

"I was thinking on giving my father this. What do you think?" Jill smiled and nodded.

"It's lovely. Is it for his brithday?" Mira looked at Jill in puzzlement.

"No, it's not." Jill looked confused as XR rolled in with a box as well with Booster in tow.

"Look at what I got Pops!" He smiled as he held up a photo of himself.

"I got this for Pa." Booster said as he held up a mock wrist lazer. Jill tilted her head a bit.

"Why are you guys getting your dads gifts?" The three looked at her in shock.

"You don't know what tomorrow is?" XR asked. Jill looked at her calander.

"June 16, so?" Jill asked before she saw the tiny text in the box. It read in red letters 'FATHER'S DAY'

Renee was at home, trying to hide the gift she had gotten for her father. Like almost everything she got these days it was from the black market, boxed up in her closet and marked 'do not open, this side up' with an arrow pointing towards one end of the box. she, bored, sat kip on her shoulder and went to call jill

"I cannot believe I forgot, I cannot believe I forgot, I cannot believe that I forgot!" Jill said as she had her face in her hands. HOW could she forget FATHER'S DAY? He was the only parent she had! "What am I going to do!?" She asked panickly as the phone ring. Answering it, Jill grinned at Renee. "Renee! Thank Venus it's you!" The cat girl smirked.

"Forgot it's father's day tomorrow, huh?" Jill nodded.

"What am I going to do?! I need an idea for a gift!"

"I might be able to get something you could give him." The girl shrugged. She had her dad covered, so it never hurt to help jill. "Anything imperticular you had in mind? It's not like I know how to shop for lightyear."

"I don't know what to give him!" Jill said in a paniced voice. "I mean, what do you give the man who has everything?" She moaned and ran her hand threw her hair as Renee thought for a minute. Tapping her chin the Zephyrite got an idea. She wasn't sure if Jill would go for the cost though.

"How about you spend a day with him?" Renee grinned.

"He would love it." she offered. In her mind it was suggesting torture but the guy was jill's father for pete's sake. "And maybe if you let him have that day he wouldn't follow you the next time you and myka go on a date."

Jill cringed. Was the price of her diginty really worth it? She took a deep breath and sighed in defeat. "Alright...I guess so." She forced a smile. "Thanks Renee. You saved my bacon." She hung up the phone and sighed. Oh well...how bad could it be?

XL came in, looking for XR. "What did XR get pop? I need to know so I dont get the same thing." He shrugged. "Who was on the phone?" He peeked over jill's shoulder.

"No one important." Jill lied as she worked on something. "XR got him a photo of himself." She explained. "So I'd say your safe."

"Oh, right." XL laughed. "No worries then, except i still dont know what to get him." The bot worked his tail off to please the commander. He wanted to get his dad something really important

Jill sighed as she printed off the 'Day date with your daughter' coupon she put together. "Oh well." She sighed as she put it in a nice envelope. "It can't be that bad...can it?"

==Next Day==

Buzz was reading his paper when Jill walked into the kitchen. "Happy father's day dad." She said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek and handed him the envelope.

Buzz took the envelope and tore it open. the moment he opened it he smiled. "Oh, perfect!" He grabbed jill into a bone crushing hug.

Renee managed to drag the heavy box into the kitchen. "Happy," she panted. "Fathers day!" She slapped a large green bow on the box and showed it to her dad

"Glad you-Like it" Jill gasped threw the hug. "Now, can you let me go? I think you popped a lung." She managed to slip from the hung and gasped a bit. At least she would only spend the day with him at work. He would never take a day off for something so-

"Aww kitten," Alan smiled. "You didn't have to get me anything. You're all I need." He kissed her on the head.

Renee smirked and smiled at her dad. "Uh, uh you've got to open this it was to hard to find." She chuckled as he opened to find a complete set of parts for a lightspeed bee X7 motorcycle

"Oh! Renee!" He smiled and hugged her. "Thank you my little yarn ball of joy!" He said as he nuzzled her head. "I Love it!"

"Well, I'm glad you like your gift Dad." Jill said as she turned back to the stairs. "I'm going to go get ready for work-" She was cut off by Buzz.

"No way! Im using this coupon now." Buzz smiled and called in for his and jill's day off.

Welcome dad!" Renee smiled happily, embbarased, and shrugged him off. "I thought we could put it together, well, together."

Alan smiled broadly. "Honey! That sound wonderful!" He grabbed her into a hug and squeezed her tight.

"What?! Bu-But you've never taken a day off! EVER!" Jill said, completely floored over this.

"And i've never gotten a day from you!" Buzz smiled and finished tyoing up his message. "whats one day of me spending time with you going to do to them?" Buzz shrugged like it didnt matter.

"Great." Renee wormed out of his arms and started to drag the box to the garage. "i'll need help getting it out there."

Jill had a forced smile as she gave a thumbs up. "Super. One sec." She went to her room where Eddy was asleep on the pillow next to hers as she fell on her bed and screamed into her pillow.

"Sure thing sweetie." Alan smiled as he flexed his muscles. "Leave it all to daddy."

Renee chuckled. "Nice, dad." She wished her mom could be here to see this. It was priceless. Alan slipped and tried to hold onto the box while theycarried it into the garage.

Buzz came in and knocked on the door, getting jill to look up. "What do you want to do first?"

"Just...need to use some old muscles I haven't used in a while..." Alan chuckled as he grunted and wheezed. "Daddy can do it..."

"What ever you want dad..." Jill smiled nervously. "It's your day." 'Don't be embarrassing...don't be embarrassing...don't don't don't-'

"Why dont we go to a themem park or something, then hit cosmic crunchies for lunch?" He offered. It would be just like having her as a little girl again.

Renee laughed and finally set the box down on the garage floor. "Well, lets get started."

"Sounds, great." Jill smiled nervously. Ed gave a tired yawn and rolled over on the pillow.

"S-sure. Le-Let daddy...c-catch his breath...for a...sec..." Alan wheezed as he held his side.

Renee chuckled. She brought her dad a glass of water. "Not going soft on me are you, daddy?" she let him catch his breath.

Buzz pulled out a map of carny world he had kept just in case they went back. "Do you still want to visit the fun house?"

"Alan Gade? Going soft? I think not." Alan smirked as he finally caught his breath. "Lets get started."

"Uh, why don't we start some place else first?" Jill asked, as she remembered how much she used to ove the fun house as a little girl. That was just asking for a trip down embarrassing memory lane.
