Jill rubbed her eyes as she slowly got up. Sitting at the table, she gently poked her food, not really all that hungry.

The next day Renee was up early and in the rookie briefing room in time for the introduction to ranger training. Jill had been assigned to briefing. Just her luck.

"Thought I was suspended." Jill hissed at Buzz, shooting him a dirty look.

"I pulled strings. You're still suspended from the field for six weeks but your allowed back to work." He patted her shoulder. "Just smile and do the briefing. It will be over in half an hour."

Soon it was time to begin. A young ranger handed her a mike and nugged her into the briefing room.

"Are we all here?" Jill asked as it was time to begin. The group nodded as she stood up. "Alright, welcome to Star Command, where your lives as rangers will begin today. First thing's first. Are there any questions?"

A few hands went up. The first was asking if they would be working hands on, or with graduates. Another was asking when they would be put into teams.

"You'll be issued a weapon when you pass the test, you'll be placed into teams after your physical examination and mental review." Jill said answering the questions with ease. "Anything else?"

There was a small murmur from the crowd. "When do the evaluations begin?" Renee asked. "And how will we be assigned?"

"As soon as this meeting is over, and normal it is by alphabetical order." Jill said. "Anything else or are you guys done?"

They all nodded. Apparently that was all. Now it was time for the first day of basic training to begin. They caledl students with the last names A-C to go in for their physical evaluations, and D-F for their mentals. Everyone else sat around, and Jill was allowed to leave if she wanted.

Jill left to do something that she wasn't forced to do. She sighed as she walked to the break room. Maybe some candy would make her feel better.

XR was hanging out there, flicking through last night's poker winnings. He didn't even bother to hide them when she came in.

"Hey XR." She said tiredly. Unlike her father, she didn't care that the rangers had poker games at Star Command. She tiredly went up to the vending machine.
