Old and New Kid on The Block (open to all)

Stepping out of the ship hanger, MINERVA was heading down the hallway wondering what had changed during the long months that she had been out of commission, so to speak. She had been hoping to find her teammates somewheres on the station, but after looking almost all over Star Command the cyborg couldn't her closest friends at all. The best place that she could find out was from Commander Nebula himself. With a determined look on her face, the Spiritoain headed right to her superior's office.

Renee was sitting around Star Command for the day, visiting with her dad. Flicking her ears, the girl finished reading master's criminal report for the week and walked out with XL. "Anything new going on?" She asked the photocopier.

"Theres a ranger back to get reassigned." The bot shrugged. "She's a cyborg like you."

Renee smiled, a faint hint of evil in her expression, and took note. "Why don't we go visit her?"

As soon as she arrived, she knocked on the door which got the attention of Nebula who asked, "Who is it?"

"MINERVA4.0, sir," the cyborg replied, doing her best to keep her temper in check.

"Enter," the commander replied and after the returning ranger had sat down, he went right into it and said, "As you probably already figured, the reason that you're team is not around is that since you were gone so long and having no idea when or if you were going to return, I had them assigned to new teams and you to Team Lightyear, your expertise and skill level being the best for them. And I don't want anything said, or argued about it, understand?"

Just as she was about to say something, her commanding officer had already figured out that she was pretty miffed about the whole thing and really wasn't in the mood right now. With a heavy sigh, she replied, "Yes, sir."

"Good, now report to the science lab for your new uniform and then right to your team," Nebula dismissed, going back to his reports.

Having a hard time controlling her facial expressions MINERVA walked out and down the hall seeing two others coming towards her. One she sort of recognized and the other was a new face to her.

"Hello there." Renee waved quickly. She was looking the ranger up and down. "My name's Renee Gade." Her catlike ears flicked up and down and she whipped her tail, smiling faintly.

XL chuckled and smiled at MINERVA as well. "Hey." He nodded.

"Hello," the cyborg replied, putting on a fresh smile and lifting her hand or a customary handshake. "The name's MINERVA4.0, formerly Minerva Sparkstar." Looking to XL, she returned his smile and returned his hey for her hey.

"It's nice to meet you." Renee nodded. Her red cyborg eye glowed hardily. "And.. formerly? I hate to ask, but what happened?" She really did hate to as- backstories were painful.

"I don't mind. A little over six months ago, my former team and I were on a mission and we were suddenly ambushed and our ship came under fire, ultimately being destroy I almost along with it not for the heroics of one of my crew members that saved me just in time from my malfunctioning seatbelt. I was then saved by the best science team back home on Spiritos Prime who created my new cybernetic limbs and teryllium armor to protect them. Today's my first day back to work," MINERVA replied, keeping her details short so they weren't standing there all day.

"wow, what a story." Renee glanced at XL. He didn't know about her past and she preffered to eep it that way. she reached up and touched the rim of her eye, where a tiny N was carved into the metal. "But welcome back, i guess." she hated the floating deathtrap but had to stay here on weekends with his father

"Yeah," the metal Spiritoain agreed. Seeing the girl reach up to touch her robotic eye, her optics couldn't help but zoom in and see the n, but didn't comment on it. Letting a couple seconds of silence pass before saying, "Well, I need to get to the science lab before the little green guys start looking for me."

"Alright, good luck." Renee chuckled and walked off, just kind of wandering until she made her way to the science lab as well. The cat had each and every LGM wrapped around her piny finger and they treated her like a best friend. She sat down at a table calmly and started workingon yet another robot design.

When she arrived, MINERVA was greeted by two of the LGMs who gave her her new uniform, explaining how it worked just like the fabric of the normal suits but gave her a more sophisticated look, a project they wanted to test out for several months. After returning from changing, the cyborg absolutely loved it after which the scientists gave her a brand new blaster that was Star Command regulated placing it in the gun holster compartment that was installed in her new right leg. Once she was checked over, she saw Renee had come in and was working on something. Walking over, she said, "We meet again, eh?"

"Yeah. I guess so." Renee didnt look up, she was to busy tinkering with the innards and a small spiderlike robot. She licked her lips absently and tried to get the battery compartment in without drushing important internal machinery. She was good with robots, but no genius.

"I can see that you're into robotics," MINERVA observed. "And by what you're drawing, it's really good. I'm mean you've got something here."

"Thanks, ive worked with some advanced stuff." Renee didnt really bother going into detail about WHAT, or, more imprtantly, WHO she had repaired, but everyone else knew and the moment minerva asked it would set XR off for sure.

"Well, maybe you've got a future for this someday," MINERVA suggested. However, she had gotten a sixth-sense feeling that she was hiding something dark and haunting, which bothered her a bit. But she also got the feeling that it wasn't something to be discussed in open public so she respected it and wouldn't go into anything that would bring it out by accident.

"Yeah, I planned on taking it up as a career." renee looked ver to MINERVA again. "But not for Star Command. I hate this place." she said it with an acidy voice.

Hearing the acidity, MINERVA got a confused look on her face as she asked, "Why do you hate it so much?"

"XR, that stupid little tin of snack chips on team lightyear, pitched me out a window when i was little and broke my arm." She explained. "then, one night when our school was having a benefit preformance for the rangers, no one bothered to help when my oldest friend went phsychotic and tore my eye out." She growled. Of course, the cat was leaving an enormous gap where the entire story about her helping Nos-4-a2 was supposed to be, but this new cyborg would figure it out whenever she talked to XR. he loved to rant about her.

"Oh my gosh," the Spiritoain replied, shocked. "Talk about a rough life." Then realizing that she was late meeting with said team she added, "Oh, darn. I'm probably late meeting up with my new team and I need to go. I hope to talk with you again soon. Later!" With that, MINERVA left the lab and went in search for the heroic crew.

"Yeah, and good luck!" Renee waved goodbye to the cyborg. She went back to worl and muttered under her breath. "You'll need it, with the jerks around here."

After a few minutes of walking around, MINERVA was starting to get a nervous knot in her stomach and hoped that she didn't miss them for a mission or something along the lines of that.

Mira was heading down the hall to the meeting room about then and recognized the photo they haad been given of MINERVA. "Hey there, i think we're supposed to be meeting in there." The tangean pointed to a pair of double doors. she led MINERVA inside to meet Buzz, booster, and XR

Seeing Mira, the cyborg breathed a sigh of relief when the other woman greeted her and led her into the room where the others were at. "For a minute there I thought I was going to miss you guys," MINERVA admitted with a sheepish grin on her face.

"We'd never leave a member of our own team behind." Booster smiled and introduced himself. "Im Booster, Booster munchapper."

The rest of the team did likewise, greeting MINERVA, till she came to XR. "Hey." He shook her hand. "Just a fair warning to a fellow machine, watch out for renee."

"MINERVA4.0, nice to meet you," the cyborg returned, smiling back. Greeting her new team members in turn, and when it came to XR and his warning about Renee, she said, "Yeeaahh, I kinda already met her. One thing about her was that her disposition was very mixed, especially about you."
