((Why Tradeworld, you may ask? I'm rather eager to take Alex for a spin, and it's really one of the best places for her to meet anyone; I doubt she'd be welcome on Star Command, and Planet Z's defense system doesn't take kindly to visitors. Anyways, feel free to hop on in with whoever you want. I'll be playing Alex and Warp Darkmatter.))

Tradeworld. Many names could be used to describe this planet; a hub of trade and commerce; a wretched hive of scum and villainy; maybe even the second heart of the Galactic Alliance.

For Alex, however, one phrase in particular stuck in her mind; Futuristic New York City.

A look of awe was on her face as she gazed upon the millions of people going about their daily business, walking among colossal skyscrapers, hitching rides on buses hundreds of feet in the air, examining items and goods unlike anything the Earthling had ever seen. Good gods, and this was just one block! Could the whole planet really be like this? Just how many people was that, anyway?

Way too many, Alex eventually decided as she sidled closer to Warp, slightly intimidated by the chaos going on around her.

The shift in position caused Warp to look down at her and, seeing her impression of a moozle caught in headlights, let out a weary sigh. Yes, Zurg had offered a rather handsome raise for making sure his new granddaughter stayed out of trouble whenever she was off Planet Z, but he didn't think she was going to become metaphorically attached to his hip as a result. He was going to have enough trouble doing this weapons trade for his boss without having to play babysitter, thank you very much. Seriously, why was she even here again?

...Oh right. It was so she could "get to know about her future empire" or whatever Zurg's explanation had been. Something she could have just as easily done by going on the computer, Warp thought with a snort. "Alright, quit gawking like a tourist and stick close," he told the kid as he started moving. "I don't want to have to pay for anything you break."

Alex certainly took the "sticking close" part to heart, practically walking in Warp's boots as he led the way down the street. She still wasn't sure how it happened, though. She could have sworn she only looked away for one second to investigate the billboard that had caught her eye...and that she had only slowed down for one or two steps...but when she looked back....

Uh-oh.

She looked around in an increasingly frantic manner, starting to spin in place as she looked at everyone that passed by her.

Where did Warp go?!

Spotting a bench out of the corner of her eye, she quickly weaved her way through the crowd towards it and climbed onto it, shielding her eyes from the sun with one hand as she tried to pick out one particular head from the sea of noggins. Wait, was that purple she just saw? Oh, wait, it was a street vendor's cart. Hey, maybe that flash of blue could be--no, it was just some buck-toothed alien with three arms (wait, just what kind of environment did his species come from to require a third arm in that spot?). After a few more minutes, Alex sat down with a sigh of frustration, going so far as to mouth one of her home world's swear words.

Alright, alright, what were her options? Well, she had her whistle for starters, but that was more for extreme emergencies, and the chances of Warp hearing it were pretty slim (that, and she hadn't exactly had the chance to tell him she had it yet). She could wait here, but would Warp come looking for her here? Come to think of it, did he even know she was missing yet? Probably not.

She could also ask someone to point where Warp went. She had her pad of paper and pencil, so communication would only be slightly hindered. But if she was going to do that, she would have to work quickly, lest everyone who could have seen him be long gone themselves.

Taking out the pad, she quickly flipped it open to the first page and scribbled something down. After a second's pause, she flipped to the next page and scribble something there, too, before turning back to the first page and looking up for someone to ask.

Hmm...that person didn't look too threatening. Getting up and walking over to them, Alex reached up and tapped them on the shoulder before holding up the pad for them to read when they turned around.

Excuse me. Have you seen a blue-skinned humanoid man in a red and purple suit with a robot arm?

(Do you mind if I use my OC? I use the version of her before my second story)

Renee jumped a little in surprise and looked down at the notepad. She nodded, somehwat familiar with the description. Had Zurg done something wrong with the girl? "No, I haven't," She shook her head, cybrog eye glowing. "Are you talking about Warp Darkmatter?"

((Nah, I don't mind at all.))

Well damn. Alex's shoulders sagged slightly as this...cat-girl, was really the only thing she could think of to describe her...declared ignorance to Warp's presence and possible direction.

When she asked about the person she was looking for being Warp, however, she nodded, slightly surprised. While she had heard that Warp was one of the Galactic Alliance's most wanted, she didn't really think the first random citizen she walked up to would know about him. But maybe this citizen could...no, no. She'd probably sooner call the police...er, Space Rangers.

But then again, the residents of Tradeworld were said to be mostly neutral in this whole conflict between Zurg and Star Command, yes?

Turning the pad back to her and flipping the page over, Alex scribbled something out and, after a few seconds hesitation, wrote something else down before turning it back to the cat-girl to read.

I was walking around with him when we got separated. Do you know which direction he went? Would it be too much trouble to ask if you could help me find him?

Renee read again and nodded. She had left her father alone to talk to someone at a shop and wandered off. Something, probably the mind control, said that this would be interesting. "Sure, why not?" She shrugged. "Who are you, if you don't mind my asking?" The Zephyrite crossed her arms behind her back and walked with Alex

Alex smiled in relief. Good, she wasn't gonna call the rangers on them! They started walking along, Alex scribbling on her pad to answer her new acquaintance's question.

My name's Alex Parker. Nice to meet you. And you are...?

As she held the pad, she couldn't help but glance up at the girl's cybernetic eye. What was the story behind that, she wondered. Did it have any special features, like night or thermal vision? What was its range of view? Did she have any other--

"HEY! Watch where you're goin'!"

After a quick skip-step to catch herself, she turned around and gave a nervous shrug of apology to the person she had just walked into. Ok, enough with the internal theorizing, she needed to pay attention now.

Renee chuckled. The, apparently older girl, certaintly seemed new to Trade World. Not that Renee herself was any expert on the planet. The question as to who she was, as always, made her uneasy. Should she mention her history with Nos? No, she decided against it. She touched the edge of her eye where his intial was carved faintly. "I'm Renee. Renee Gade." She nodded.

Another smile and nod were Alex's answer to Renee's introduction before she remembered they were supposed to be looking for Warp. As they approached an intersection, she stopped and rose onto her toes, trying to see over the heads of everyone around them. If she were Warp, where would she go?

...Ok, that wasn't exactly the best question to ask, seeing as she barely knew Warp and this was her first time on Tradeworld. A better question would probably be what Zurg had wanted Warp to do here in the first place.

Tapping her pad on her chin in thought, she shifted her weight back to the rest of her feet and started writing again.

Do you know if there are any shops nearby that deal in weapons? That's where Warp was going, I think.

Renee had learned quickly, from both the rangers and other sources, that Warp was a delivery boy for Zurg's black market weapons trade. She also knew where the nearest black market was, having spent enough time there herself. "Yeah, I think I can show you where he would be." The girl wondered how Alex would even end up following the villain around. "What ties do you have with Warp, just asking." The zephyrite kicked a rock and sent it flying into the crowd as she led Alex to the entrance.

"Yeah, I think I can show you where he would be."

And with that, Renee started leading Alex towards a rather dingy alleyway, kicking a rock out of the way. Alex followed it with her eyes until it disappeared into the crowd (Say, wasn't that the person she bumped into earlier? Nah, it was probably a different dude of the same species), then followed the other girl into the shadows.

When Renee asked about her connection to Warp, she fidgeted slightly. Did Zurg really want people knowing about her yet? There was a slight problem if he didn't--they hadn't exactly given her a cover story to use for this kind of situation. Crap, how was she going to answer this?

Warp was hired to be my bodyguard for this trip. Not that he's doing a very good job at the moment.

Hopefully that would satisfy her curiosity (and hopefully the joke would distract her if it wasn't). She didn't really want to reveal anything else, but she didn't want to have to shut her out and come across as rude, either.

Renee laughed. "Yeah, So I've seen." She knocked a few times on a door at the end of the alley. A large, insectoid alien peered out, nodded, and let them into the market.

The girls didn't see Warp yet, but they went to browsing. The girl was with Warp, end of story. she would find out more later, but that was all she was getting for now.

The alien was really letting them in just like that? No passwords or presentation of special market cards or anything? Maybe it recognized Renee, Alex mused as she looked the alien over out of the corner of her eye--more out of curiosity than anything.

Alex had come here expecting something like a dark grungy abandoned warehouse fill with people wearing all various designs of coats and jackets to hide their identities, possibly conducting business in whispered tones behind ratty blankets and towels while suspiciously glancing over their shoulders at every passer-by. What she actually saw as the door was closed behind them was completely different.

The windows had been boarded up to make the place seem abandoned, but the ample illumination coming from the ceiling lights were more than adequate for allowing vision inside. The room they entered in was large and spacious, but it was still too small to be a warehouse. Sheets were spread out on the floor, displaying various small trinkets ranging from tools to what seemed to be batteries to things she could only describe as high-tech rave sticks. Interestingly enough, there didn't seem to be a single weapon in sight (unless that alien selling power tools over there was catering to murderers who used repairman disguises to get close to their targets). There also didn't seem to be many people here, just the proprietors and about a handful of potential customers shambling around the sheets.

As the girls walked through another door on the other side of the room, they found the space suddenly greatly narrowed into halls lined with doors and filled with a lot more people. Every door they walked past was propped wide open, revealing rooms decorated with themes of all varieties; rooms that used to be offices, Alex suddenly realized. People strolled in and out of the rooms and up and down the hallways, hawking wares, haggling prices, catching up with friends and acquaintances, and gathering into groups to share the latest gossip.

It was almost like those open air African markets that Alex had read about back home...except one glance at the merchandise was all that was needed to know why all of this was in an "abandoned" office building and not out in a plaza.

The weapons that could be found in here ranged from seemingly normal-looking handguns (most likely hiding illegal modifications), to huge shoulder-mounted weapons that looked like futuristic rocket launchers (how the hell did the customers sneak those back home?) to blades of alien design that could probably cut through cow bones like butter. Out of the corner of her eye, Alex saw one merchant displaying the controls of what seemed to be a whip with a retractable thong.

Looking more closely, the building itself was in better condition than she first expected. The walls were clean and a shade of white that had just the slightest hint of icy blue under the florescent lighting, and the carpet, while a much darker color, seemed to be stain-free. The cleanliness of the place combined with the bright lighting and the presence of what seemed to be bouncers patrolling the hallways actually made Alex feel less nervous than when they first came in, despite being in the presence of literally a thousand different things that could kill her right then and there.

One thing could definitely be said about the people running this whole gig, Alex thought as she looked around, visibly impressed. They knew what they were doing.

Now if only she knew where she was going. She hadn't been present when Zurg told Warp what he had wanted him to retrieve, and even if she had, the name or description more likely than not would have just flown right over her head. With that grounding thought, Alex tore her eyes away from a purplish-blue rifle with suspiciously glowing ammunition and started paying attention to the people around her.

As she looked, she got an idea...she quickly wrote it down on the pad and, getting Renee's attention, showed it to her.

Think we should ask someone here if they've seen Warp?

"Sounds about right," Renee nodded. She was used to asking if anyone had seen Nos lately. She entered a stall filled with entricate looking handguns and tapped on the desk. In just a few moments a Zephyrite with thick soft black fur came out. "Hey, you looking for the usual?"

She nodded and laughed a little. "And, this time, Warp Darkmatter."

"Nice touch," He nodded. "I think I've seen him down the hall, but no sign of your energy vampire. Again."

She frowned and thanked him, then went trudging down the hall.

You Break It, You Buy It (open to all) Empty Re: You Break It, You Buy It (open to all)

While Renee went into one office-turned-booth to talk to the merchant (looks like she was indeed a regular here), Alex opted to stay by the door on the off chance that Warp happened to walk by. She leaned on the door frame, idly watching the various aliens and trying to puzzle out the evolutionary reason for this one's skin color or that one's freakishly long neck.

Of a sudden, one particular alien caught her eye. It was tall and lithe, possibly mammalian, judging from its short brownish-red fur. It had a blunt snout and slits for nostrils which were accented by two pairs of short stiff whiskers. For some reason it reminded her of a weasel or stoat.

It's attire, on the other hand, made her think of some weird cross between a greaser and a private eye. Spacer boots and blue pants could be seen when it was walking, but otherwise its legs and shirt were hidden by the black trench coat it was wearing, collar snapped up. Its hair, a few shades darker than its fur, was slicked back.

It also looked exactly like the person she had walked into earlier.

Alex had to raise her eyebrow at that observation. She had seen a second Stoat Person when they were walking down the alley, so this could be a third one, right? She didn't exactly scrutinize the first one.

...Come to think of it, though, the "second" one had been wearing a black trench coat, too....

Stoat Person then chose that moment to look down the hall--directly at her. As soon as their eyes locked, his briefly narrowed before he just as quickly broke contact, ducking into an office.

That got Alex to straighten up pretty quickly. She had been briefly entertaining the thought that his being here was just a coincidence...but not only was there the fact that he had been walking in the opposite direction when they collided, that very action confirmed that he hadn't wanted her to know he was here.

But why?

At that point Renee walked out in a noticeably damper mood and started walking down the hall, away from where Stoat Person had disappeared. Catching up to her in a few bounds, Alex looked over her shoulder, trying to catch another glimpse of their stalker. When she couldn't find them, she looked forward again, a grim expression on her face as the knot of panic in her gut grew.

"You okay?" Renee glanced at her again. She had seen Alex looking at someone but hadn't caught who it was. The older girl seemed worried about something.

Hey! An idea occured to her... maybe Alex, who seemed to know Zurg, knew Nos? It was a long shot, but it could never hurt to ask... could it? "Would you happen to know a robot by the name of Nos-4-a2?" She asked carefully, keeping up a quick pace down the hall so she could find Warp.

NOS-4-A2? Alex's eyebrows furrowed; the name seemed familiar for some reason. There had been that one brainpod she noticed shortly after arriving at Planet Z, one who had been muttering under his breath about her being "another NOS-4-A2," but she had no idea what he had been talking about at the time. Well apparently NOS was a robot, but that didn't do anything to clear things up.

She slowly shook her head. No, she didn't really know any robot by that name. The name still bugged her though, like she had heard it somewhere before, before she came here. For some reason it brought the image of a vampire to mind--

...Oh. Oh. Despite trying to hold it in, she still snorted slightly, bringing up a hand to muffle it. Ok, she had to admit, that was actually pretty clever. Though now she was wondering what that indicated about this NOS robot.

She sobered up pretty quickly when Renee asked if she was ok. She glanced over her shoulder again--oh gods, was that a flash of red she saw?--and snapped her head forward again. Quickly writing on the pad, she passed it over to Renee.

You know that dude I walked into earlier? I think he's following us.

"Really?" Renee glanced backward. She didn't see anything in the hustle-bustle of regular old illegal commerce. Her tail flicked apprehensively. She did feel like she was being watched... but she always felt that way. She shrugged.

Up ahead Warp finally came into view. He was talking to a fish, a Bathyosian, over a pile of weaponry. "Found him!" She said wuickly, pointing at the agent of evil.

Oh thank the gods! Alex quickened her pace, a smile of relief growing on her face.

It just as quickly vanished when a large body suddenly slammed into her from the side, pushing both her and Renee into a unoccupied office.

Regaining her balance, she turned to see Stoat Guy blocking the doorway, a sneer on his face as he brought a small device out of his jacket and pointed it at the two. What was that? Some kind of taser? Alex got her answer when he pressed a button on it, causing a blade to snap out and start glowing a dark red while a low buzzing sound filled the room.

"Alright, girlies," he said, his voice seeming to slither into Alex's ear and making her want to shudder with revulsion, "be nice for Papa and hand over everything you have, and you won't have to get acquainted with my little friend here." He then glanced over at the stand of handguns on the nearby wall. "And don't be getting any ideas about trying for any of these here weapons or I'm going to have to get nasty."

Glancing down from Stoat Person's face to his knife, Alex gripped the small bag she had slung around her waist. Cooperating and handing it over seemed like the best idea, but what would he do afterwords? He didn't say if he was going to let them go or not.

Godsdammit, and she had been so close to getting back to Warp, too. She glanced at Renee, wondering if (and slightly hoping) the other girl had any ideas.

((I hope it is not terrible if I join in the fray, it does state that this is open to any, am I correct?))

With the silence that followed as the two girls stared at the Stoat person, there came a noise of metallic clicking from behind the rather large alien man.

" Room for one more? Don't mind if I do." came a voice, the tone rather dripping with a satirically unamused sound.

Then, before Renee or Alex could think, the Stoat Person's face contorted into a painful grimace as loud crackle of light and electricity shot through it's body. Once the light died down and the Stoat's body fell to the ground with a loud THUD, the form of a female robot stood behind him. Her eyes glowed in the dim light as she flexed her fingers.

" Are you two alright?" she asked, her tone having changed from it's harsh one before into that of a more calm nature.

Renee had been completely stunned. She let out a long, heaving sigh of relief. "Thank god." She looked at the robot. To her surprise, it was Samara. They had met on Star Command before. "Sam! You really saved my fur back there." She looked towards Alex, afraid of what the ranger would do if she knew the older girl was looking for Warp.

"...Ow."

And with that, Stoat Person slowly toppled to the floor in a manner fairly reminiscent of a toppling tree, kicking up some dust as he connected with the carpet.

Alex had literally jumped when Stoat Person had started convulsing, and watched him go down with wide confused eyes. When he didn't move after a few seconds, she slowly looked up to see a robot with a feminine build, flexing her fingers before relaxing her stance and asking if they were alright.

While Renee greeted the robot enthusiastically, Alex reached back until her hands found the desk and then leaned against it, her body trembling slightly as it chose now to amp up the adrenaline production. After a couple of deep breaths to try to calm herself down, she looked back up and gave a small wave and nervous smile.

" Good to see you too Renee. " Samara stated, giving the alien girl a warm, greeting smile. The fembot walked over to the side of the Stoat person's downed body, giving it a not-so-gentle poke with the heel of her shoe. " Not so difficult now, eh?" she muttered.

Samara lifted her head and looked over towards Alex, noticing that the girl had backed up into a desk, a look that emulated half-fright yet half-relief. Sam came a little closer towards her once she made sure the Stoat would not rise up again.

" Are you alright?"

(Eh, I'm interested enough. MINERVA's popping in here)

However, Samara wasn't the only one from Star Command that was on Tradeworld. MINERVA4.0 had followed the gynoid to make sure that the engineer wasn't going to get into too much trouble. But since that she didn't know that the Spiritoian was there the cyborg was disguised in a wide-brimmed hat and long trench coat that covered her new uniform that she was trying out for the first time today. She had just arrived as the other young woman had taken out the Stoat Person and was asking if the two young girls were okay.

Samara looked at Renee, giving her a wide smile and a thumbs up:

" I come here to find parts and scrap metals. It's free, not to mention some people will throw out something that is perfectly functioning! It's a waste! So I come and pick things up, fix them, or build something new with 'em!" she stated, her voice full of an enthusiastic tone.

Looking up at the robot as she stepped closer to her, Alex nodded when she asked about her current health. Opening up her pad, she quickly wrote on it and turned it around to show to her, the handwriting a bit squiggly due to the fact that she was still trembling slightly.

I'm alright, just delayed shock, I think. Thank you for helping us with that person. I was afraid of what might have happened after he had gotten our things.

After giving the robot time to read, she flipped the page over and wrote another message while stepping over to Renee.

Thanks for helping me find Warp. I don't know what I would have done if he ended up going home without me.

Seriously, though, if there was one thing they were going to do before leaving this planet, it would be getting her some freaking bells!
