Writing to Disney/Petition?

Perhaps we should link to this on the Wiki and somewhere on this page? Although it won't do much good if the owner doesn't update the page!

If we're talking about a company to write to, Walt Disney Disney Studios Home Entertainment would be a good start. Shall I put an email together, and what do you reckon it should contain (a little off-topic, sorry)?

Well...we could link the Fanlisting to the Wikia, but we would need to wait for the owner to update. But hey, anything's possible!

Sure, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment would be awesome! Hmm...well, if I recall right, you stated some statistics about the show itself. You stated...

Olivus Prime wrote:

- The series is recognised for winning the 2001 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Special Class, and for being nominated for the 2001 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program and the 2001 Motion Pictures Sound Editors, USA Golden Reel Awards for Best Sound Editing - Television Animated Series - Sound and Best Sound Editing - Television Animation - Music.

- A DVD release could attract newer Toy Story fans towards the series, increasing the fanbase, and making a greater profit.

- The recent release of Toy Story 3, as well as the recent Toy Story Toons, could boost interest in the boxset.

And like I said, we could put into the email/letter the reasons why the show should be released onto DVD, and give off information about the show-Internet fame, awards it won/was nominated for, articles it was mentioned it, merchandise, etc. It won't be easy since we will have to nag-er, persuade them with a LOT of letters to convince them, but if we tell them these things, and the reasons why we want the show on DVD-good entertainment, awesome stories, etc., and if we keep on burying them in letters or emails, anything is possible. After all, it was a long time before other animated shows came out on DVD. I'm sure BLoSC can do the same! Smile

True, in fact quite a lot of 90s cartoons have been coming out for the first time on DVD recently. A few of the Disney cartoons from this perios have been released, mostly stuff like DuckTales and Goof Troop. I think that even just a small number of fans writing in would probably stimulate them to produce at least the first part of the first series on DVD.

I'll put something together, and I'll show it on here once I'm done.

Here's my email. Please suggest anything I should change, or anything else I should put in, before I send it off!

Olivus Prime wrote:Dear sir or madam,

I am a long-time fan of the Disney animated classics, and a member of the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command fanbase. We have recently noticed that several other classic Disney television series, such as Ducktales, and also more recent cartoons, such as Kim Possible, have seen their episodes become available via DVD. It has been several years since Buzz Lightyear of Star Command went off the air, but the fanbase, as well as many fans of Disney television, continue to love the cartoon for the fun adventure that it was. Since its departure from the small screen, many have pondered the chance of the series coming to DVD, and with the recent release of Toy Story 3 and the Toy Story Toons, there appears to be no better time to finally release the award-winning series to please the original fans, and attract some new ones.
I hope that the choice is made to release the series on DVD, as I know it would make a lot of money, and would make many, many fans very happy.

Many thanks,

Oliver

Submitted! It'll be interesting to see what the response is. If they accept, fantastic! If they decline... well, that's what spam email is for!

For those who want to submit emails to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, this link will take you to the page where questions can be submitted. Their street address is also available:

Nice job on finding the address! This will be the first company to whom I'll write to. Smile

Alright! That is awesome! I'm glad you got a response back! Very Happy

Now we just have to keep writing to these folks, and to DVD companies, and tell them what we would like and how they could benefit from it. You did a grand job, Olivus! I shall give you a big round of applause! (stands up and claps)

Thank you! Hopefully this has set things in motion, and isn't just an automated message with "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" put into it.

Remember that WDSHE is the DVD company for Disney, so they are the main target of our pleas.

It'll be great to see yours once you've finished it! A second request will probably confirm whether or not they are truly thinking about it.

Well, here it is! Sorry it took so long to put up. So, without further ado...

Fox Storm wrote:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you concerning merchandise of the animated series, “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command”. I am a fan of the show and I love to collect as many pieces of merchandise as I can. However, I have noticed that there is only a very small amount of merchandise of “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command”. You are missing out on a grand opportunity. Many adoring fans of the series would do just about anything to collect the merchandise, including myself. I think I speak for all “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” fans when I say that we would like more merchandise. I already have some of the merchandise. I would like to see DVDs of all the episodes with special features about the series, jewelry and other pieces of merchandise. In my town, we have a huge Target store, and if the merchandise were to hit there, many people would buy it, including yours truly.

Sincerely,

Fox Storm

Now to keep on writing until our wishes have been answered. Wink

Split this topic from the Fanlisting! It was kinda hazy where we stopped talking about the fanlisting and when we got to letters and petitions, but I decided to split it off from the first post in this thread.

That way, people who want to write letters/petitions can put all their stuff in this thread. And it's GREAT you got a reply back! I should probably come up with something too... WHEN THE WEEKEND COMES!

Sorry Steel! Me and my threads again!

I'd be so chuffed if we suddenly saw a release date somewhere... a dream come true! The only thing I'm doubting is a Region 2 release, as very few of their recent boxsets have come out over here.

BUT REGION 2, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Oh well, I can live with that. The computer plays everything, so there. :p

And that's okay; it just stopped talking about the fanlisting after a point so I figured a split would do wonders~

It's been a while now, and I've checked the Disney Home Entertainment release schedule - up to March 2012, nothing's been set yet. I was thinking of writing another email to ask whether a boxset is still a possibility. It'd be great to really bombard them at this stage to show that it hasn't been forgotten!

*revives thread*

Fox, did you ever get a reply? I sure hope so! I just found an email I'll try to use to ask about future DVD releases. I'll also try that link Olivus posted here. So... this is what I sent to them both:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to enquire as to whether there will ever be a release of the 2000-2001 animated series "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command".

I, as well as many other members of the fanbase, have been eagerly awaiting a release given Toy Story 3 and Toy Story Toons have been such a major success. Additionally, given how series such as Kim Possible, Ducktales, Gummi Bears, etc. have gotten recent releases, we were wondering when Buzz Lightyear of Star Command would receive similar treatment.

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins has been available on DVD for several years already, after all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I decided to keep it concise. I just hope we get more answers soon!

---------------------------

ETA: 21:08

I already got a reply, from the email instead of Olivus' link.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. We value your interest in Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment!

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is currently unavailable and no re-release date has been set. We would be happy to share with the rest of our team that you would like to have this available for purchase again! Your feedback helps us build a better experience for all of our guests and is truly appreciated!

It's pretty much word-for-word what they sent Olivus, only I think with their "currently unavailable" comment they thought I meant the DVD that's already out... I thought it was obvious I meant the show since I said animated series, but oh, well. I'll keep you posted on the reply I get from Olivus' link, but I assume it'll be the same recycled response.

Le sigh.

Well...I got a response, but it's not too different than what Steel's response was. But all the same, I'll share it. ^^;

Thanks so much for your recent email.

I certainly appreciate you taking the time to inform us of the
difficulties you experienced when ordering through DisneyStore.com.
Regrettably, since the show is new, we are not sure when we will have
more merchandise. Please continue to check our website for the items you
are interesting in seeing. This is not an example of the quality
service we wish to provide and we hope that you find this to be an
isolated incident. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience
this may have caused.

We appreciate your business and hope you will visit DisneyStore.com
again in the future.

But we'll keep on trying. Where there's a will, there's a way, and we'll find that way. Wink
